Ustadha Alexandra Contos is a teacher of the noble sciences of Quran recitation. After embracing Islam in 2000, she pursued knowledge in the core sciences of Islam and quickly fell in love with the study of Tajwid. She completed the Quran in the riwaya (standard reading) of Hafs ‘an ‘Asim with her teacher and mentor, Al-Qari Shaykh Abdullah Deeb (Itqaan Institute), and received permission to teach through him as well. She further continued her studies of theory with Dr. Shaykh Abdulkarim Sekta, who holds the distinction of not only having mastered the canonical readings of the Quran, but who also has a PhD in Linguistics and specializes in phonology and translation.
Ustadha Alexandra combines her training in the Quran with a passion for Islam, communication and design, in her approach to education. She strives to make for a comprehensive, engaging and edifying learning experience for her students that goes beyond rote memorization and pronunciation. She teaches both locally in the Atlanta area, and online through Itqaan Institute.
Ustadha Alexandra Contos currently teaches in-person courses for the One-Year Intensive in Arabic Studies at Madina Institute.
